DEAR MADAM

(To a lady who sent me a dinner)

Will you please allow me to thank ye For the wonderful grub that ye sent me,
Sure now,
it was fine,
och hone,
it was prime,
Every bite that I ate was God bless ye.

The praties,
my dear,
were delicious,
The turnip,
my darlin',
conspicuous,
And the auld apple pie,
believe I'll die Ere I ever taste one so temptatious.

The doughnuts were just made to order,
They just fairly made my mouth water,
I just took a bite,
you can bet your sweet life,
I didn't leave any to moulder.

The meat and the gravy,
Lord love ye,
I can't find expression to tell ye,
But bear this in mind,
I thank ye most kind,
Here' s your dishes and may the Lord bless ye.
